Candlewood Suites Columbus Northeast receives mixed reviews, with some praising the friendly staff and convenient location near Fort Benning. However, recurring issues with cleanliness, pest infestations, and reservation fulfillment, alongside inconsistent service quality and outdated furnishings, raise significant concerns for potential guests. Recent complaints highlight problems with bug infestations, mold, and difficulties resolving reservation issues.
Miss Faith, guest services at the front desk, is delightful. She is exactly the type of friendly, helpful, smiling face that weary travelers, and guests that are working out-of-town, should encounter everywhere.
The people were nice the hotel was clean its self but when I got to my room there was either a water bug or a roach and some other bug.i couldnt even take a shower for less than 2mins before the water goes cold.
I have some work being done in my house and I needed a extended stay place for me and my kids, of course our two dogs. We've been here since Tuesday and it's quite welcoming. If it helps others with deciding on where to stay, this is definitely a better option, everything is in the vicinity.
The hotel is pretty decent as far as the rooms and everything goes. But when you make a reservation, they need to honor the reservation. I’m a diamond elite member. I made a reservation when I showed up. They did not have the particular room I reserved which I understand. Just put me in any room. I don’t care is what I told the man at the front desk . As he’s trying to find another room, he tells me they are sold out. I was like great now. What do I do now standing in line behind me are 4 or 5 other guest. Waiting to check in he found them a room. How is it that they have a room for them and and Not for me and I was there before them. My reservation is a diamond elite member are supposed to be guaranteed. Whoever showed up last should have not got a room, but instead they did not rent me a room not only that now I’m out the money and the 20,000 points that I would’ve earned. I highly doubt I’ll ever stay there again.
It was a great start until we found a brown mother cockroach with her egg ? crawling all over our food in the kitchen and mold in the bathroom and nasty red spills under the sink, holes and damages and nasty and missing dishes and roaches! The Manager reached out and stated that they will not compensate for the bad experience 9/31/25. We have warned you!
iv stayed at IHG hotels for over 15 years and never have i ever seen rooms like this, from a IHG standpoint . Normally the rooms are up to par but these hotels in columbus Ga are terrible. iv stayed in about 5 different hotels not just IHG and all of them that were clean and nice to stay in were way to expensive. any way my let out bed was so dirty my kids had to sleep on the floor at this candlewood. i really hope i get a discount very unsatisfied. also all of the furniture looks way out dated. not sure if they care to leave mattresses that look like this in the room just nasty
I had an excellent stay at Candlewood Suites in Columbus, Georgia! From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming, professional, and went above and beyond to make me feel at home. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with a full kitchen setup that made longer stays so convenient. The hotel itself is quiet, safe, and well-maintained, with great amenities like the lending locker, fitness center, and laundry facilities that are a huge plus. The location is also perfect—close to shopping, restaurants, and Fort Benning, but still tucked away enough to be peaceful. What really stood out was the atmosphere of genuine hospitality. Everyone on staff—from the front desk to housekeeping—was kind, attentive, and truly cared about guests having the best experience possible. If you’re in Columbus for business, visiting family, or here for Fort Benning, I highly recommend staying here. Candlewood Suites has definitely earned my 5 stars!
My husband, our fur babies and I stayed there twice. We stayed 5/3-5/4/25 , we gave them a 2nd chance and stayed 5/8-5/10/25. Customer service is great !! Each time we asked to stay on the ground floor because we have Chihuahuas and it would be easier to take them out back to the poppy area. Each time I complain to the floor desk all the back things about our rooms each time. 1. The very loud refrigerator 2. The strip that separates the kitchen floor from the carpet area. We almost fell, thank God we were able to grab something to keep us from falling. 3. The toilet is so small and low to the floor you would think its for a small child. 4. 5/3/25 we had the worse AC until. 5. TVs each time we stayed, were in very bad condition. 6. 5/8/25 the recliner was broke and a lot of the faux leather was really messed up. The office chair the faux leather was messed up really bad. 7. 5/8/25 there was a hole in the closet door. I told the front desk about all the issues and I asked for a discount. Was told only a manager could give discounts and one was not available. Was told on 5/10/25 a manager will give me a call. Today is 5/14/25 and I have not heard from a manager!!!
I'm a travel nurse and I've had the good fortune to be a resident at this hotel for 4 1/2 years. The staff go above and beyond to ensure my room is cleaned weekly and my needs are addressed promptly. I have to admit that the staff, specifically Nicole, has me spoiled. She's a one call, that's all kind of person. And although her title is Director of Sales, she'll jump in wherever is needed to make it happen!! I would be remised if I didn't mention the owner. He has extended himself during situations when he could have been in business mode, but he chose to approach things from the kindness of his heart. I'm forever grateful for the hotel for being my home-away-from-home and the staff being my GA family for life. Thanks for everything! Jennifer M.
I should've read the reviews before I booked. Poor customer service is the worse thing. They won't let you explain how your company can provide them a card for incidentals. My company sends an email(from a 3rd party). I explained to her they will l received an email. She immediately said,"we didn't get an email from y'all." Without asking me where the email would come from, not did she check. We also have a phone number she could have called, but we never got to that because she said I wanted to argue because she wanted to talk over me I remained calm the whole time, but she insisted I leave the hotel...without a refund also. This could have been avoided if she's allowed me to give her the necessary information. Instead she just kept interrupting me when I tried to resolve the issue. Also they don't have enough to offer to be this difficult. They don't offer breakfast. It smells moldy, they don't have a fully stocked kitchen. The hot water was cold. Basic local cable. Poor lighting and uncomfortable beds. These rude women they have there just won't listen. Not a place I'll ever go back to. Oh, I went through all of this at 4 in the morning.
