The Columbus Marriott consistently receives mixed reviews, highlighting both exceptional service and significant maintenance concerns. While many guests praise the friendly staff and convenient location, recurring issues with cleanliness, mold, water damage, and outdated amenities significantly detract from the overall experience. Recent renovations have attempted to address some issues, but significant work remains.
The hotel is OUTDATED and OVERPRICED!! It looks like a renovated old mill. The pool was dirty near the six feet. The bathroom was too small and FILTHY!! The shower was full of mildew. If I could give it no stars I would!!! ! In room 203 every time you flush the toilet black “stuff” would come shooting down the sides. It was obvious that was a build up of urine and feces under the rim from not being properly cleaned. I felt like little critters had taken over. So much so that when I awoke at 4 A.M. to potty, I had to take these concerns to the front desk. She wrote them down in a notebook and claimed she’d pass them off to morning management.
This is not the standard I expect from Marriott. The rooms are dirty. The bathroom was full of hair and toothpaste in the sink. The shower floors are stained and looked dirty. The room is humid and the A/C never cooled the room. The carpet in the hall was dirty. The elevators were dirty. They don’t have a business center. You have to email documents to the front desk for them to print. Don’t be catfished by the photos.
Booked my room online and the total costs was listed on my reservation. I get to the hotel then the not so friendly staff at the front desk tells me it was about $200 more than what was listed on my reservation. My company credit card was only approved for the online total amount, so naturally the card was declined. I used another card to settle the issue, but I shouldn't have to. I paid $1500 for 4 nights for a unfriendly greeting/experience upon checking in. After spending that kind of money for 4 nights you would expect better service at the front desk. The room wasn't worth that kind of money either. It had signs of ceiling repair patch work from leaks. They didn't even try to repaint the ceiling to match up the paint! I was going to post pictures, but no option to do so. You folks are charging alot of money for the stay, the room should be perfect in every way. Repaint the ceiling!
I think this is supposed to be one of the nicer hotels in the city but it's obviously pretty dated. The rooms have been patched up, but bring shower shoes. The staff is wonderful. The location is great.
I asked them come change my sheets because there were pubes and hairs on the sheets and pillow cases when I first entered the room. I called the front desk and asked them to change them. I had to leave for a wedding and when I came back they had remade the bed and NOT changed the sheets. All the hairs were in the same place so not only did they lie but they have dirty sheets. I had to call again at 11pm this time and have them bring new sheets. I slept on a new sheet and a single flat sheet covering me. There were also hairs on the shower wall…. I know it’s hard to get good cleaning staff in this economy but good Lord if you don’t want to sleep in other customers chromosomes and DNA do not stay here. They also had no plates at breakfast and the hostess was aggressive. The grits were great! So was the toast and you don’t see packaged nutella often wowww.
During our recent stay, Joy greeted and assisted us at the receptionist desk. She was very professional, informative and affable! Melonie, not so much! I called and informed her that our t.v. did not work. She said someone would come in a few minutes to check it out, however, 1.5 hours later, no one had shown up. She said she forgot!
I recently stayed at the Columbus Marriott, and I want to begin by highlighting the exceptional service I received from Ellen at the front desk. I was unable to locate my Marriott Bonvoy number, and she went above and beyond to find it and ensure my account was properly updated. Her professionalism set a strong tone for my stay. As a business traveler, I prioritize two things above all: the professionalism of the staff and the cleanliness of the property. In both areas, this hotel excelled. Every team member I encountered—both at the front desk and at Houlihan’s restaurant—was courteous, attentive, and welcoming. The hotel itself was clean and well?maintained. Where the experience fell slightly short was in the in?room amenities. Most hotels today offer some combination of a refrigerator, microwave, and safe, especially for business travelers. My room included only a refrigerator. Additionally, one unusual and concerning feature was that the guest room door opened outward into the hallway rather than inward. This design eliminates the ability to use a security latch or deadbolt to prevent unwanted entry, which raised a safety concern for me. If I return to this property, I will request a room with a standard inward?opening door. Overall, based on the excellent staff and cleanliness—but with some room for improvement in amenities and room design—I rated my stay four stars. Darryl Knox
Great prices on rooms. The ac unit needs a good cleaning. Make sure you adjust it to your liking early. The downstairs restaurant had great food. Its a bit expensive for some items, but you are in a larger city. Loads of variety within walking distance.
Great stay, great breakfast, and staff. The internet didn't work but it was ok because we didn't spent a lot of time in the room. Being able to watch Netflix would have been great, but five stars because they allowed me to check in an hour early. Thanks
It may not have as many of the same extras you look for in a Marriott property. The rooms are fairly small and basic. That being said, the architecture of the building is unique and I personally got really excited just driving up to the entrance. You will definitely not be let down by the M Club. I have been running into several being renovation, limited hours, not open on weekends, sub par food and snacks. This one was nice. Even though they did not have a weekend breakfast and snacks option in the M Club the onsite restaurant Houlihan’s is amazingly. Again, really enjoyed the atmosphere and architecture. Also, happened to find my new favorite beer, Red Jacket. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did.
