The AC Hotel Columbus Downtown offers a modern and stylish stay in a central downtown location. While guests consistently praise the friendly staff, convenient parking, and comfortable rooms, cleanliness and maintenance issues, particularly regarding bathroom floors, have been raised in multiple reviews. Customer service, especially at the bar, is frequently highlighted as a strong point.
I wish I could leave a great review of this hotel. The location is great, there's plenty of free parking, and the staff have always been lovely. The lobby is very clean and modern, and the rooms are nice. However, the guest room floors are FILTHY. After a few minutes barefoot getting situated, I sat on the bed and when I got up, I noticed that my feet had left dirt marks and HAIRS on the white covers. I did a clorox wipe test around the room and it was black. I'm assuming the tile bathroom floors get mopped, but seemed like the bedroom floors had not been cleaned maybe ever.
Really nice, clean, and up to date hotel in a great location in downtown Columbus! The location made it easy to explore downtown by foot. The staff was very friendly and accommodating! My entire family was here for high school graduation over the weekend, and we really enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious for a hotel, and the staff went above and beyond to help us with everything that was need. I'll be staying here again next time I visit Columbus. Highly recommended!!
Very disappointing experience with this hotel. My friend booked a room for her birthday, and we made sure to clean everything thoroughly before leaving. The only thing left behind was one trash bag containing decorations we had taken down. A few days later, the hotel charged her card $250, claiming there was damage to the room without properly explaining or providing proof. When my friend went in person to ask about the charge, the staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. The assistant manager initially seemed helpful, but then became hostile and unprofessional. The general manager refused to have a respectful conversation, interrupted us, and walked away instead of addressing the concern. Attempts to contact management beforehand were ignored. To make matters worse, after police had already come and calmly understood the situation, an employee followed my friend outside and accused her of criminal trespassing after the matter had already been resolved. The police themselves were far more respectful and professional than the hotel staff. The lack of communication, false accusations, rude behavior, and poor customer service were unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here if you expect fair treatment and professionalism.
Loved our stay at the AC Hotel by Marriott in Columbus, GA. This boutique hotel was clean, quiet, stylish, and so comfortable. We really appreciated the minimalist European feel of the room — modern, sleek, and relaxing without feeling cold. The staff was friendly, parking was easy and convenient, and the overall experience was excellent. But the real standout was Michael at the bar — bartender turned local tour guide. He gave us amazing recommendations for great local food and shops to check out, and his suggestions made our visit even better. Our only wish is that we had stayed longer so we could have explored more of Columbus. Wonderful hotel, great atmosphere, and a team that really made the stay memorable. Can’t wait to come back.
Like most Marriott stays, this hotel did not disappoint. The facility, hotel offerings, and location were absolutely perfect for enjoying Columbus, Georgia. The staff were magnificent, but one particular shining star, Jennifer at the front desk, was beyond amazing! My elderly grandparents, 90 and 92, were staying at the hotel. She was constantly on top of making sure their needs were met. We were lucky to have her at the front desk this weekend, and Marriott is lucky to have such an amazing representative and ambassador for their brand.
? Zero Stars if That Were an Option I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel, particularly for minorities. From the moment I checked in, the experience was unacceptable and deeply frustrating. The front desk attendant (a woman whose name I unfortunately did not catch) displayed one of the most hostile and unprofessional attitudes I have encountered in years of travel. Without explanation or consent, I was placed in a hearing-impaired room, and when I raised concerns, they were met with indifference rather than accountability. Even more troubling, the hotel refused to provide basic services, including daily room cleaning for my staff—something that should be standard, not optional. What makes this worse is that this property could be a decent hotel, but it is completely undermined by poor customer service, lack of respect, and dismissive treatment of guests. Had I been offered a refund, I would not have stayed longer than an hour. Unfortunately, that option was not provided, leaving me stuck in a place where I felt unwelcome and undervalued. I am beyond irritated and deeply disappointed. I hope to never be booked at this hotel again, and if there were a rating lower than one star, I would gladly give it. Do better. Guests deserve professionalism, respect, and basic service—this hotel delivers none of those. Date of stay: 1/27-1/28/2026!!
AC Hotel by Marriott Downtown Columbus – Disappointing Stay Unfortunately, my stay at the AC Hotel by Marriott Downtown Columbus did not meet expectations. Upon arrival, the front desk staff came across as rushed, pushy, and somewhat snooty, which was not a welcoming first impression. Street parking was nearly impossible, and when we asked about it, we were told we could receive a ticket—leaving us no choice but to pay for nightly parking. Additionally, guests should have been notified in advance that there would be a parade the following morning during the weekend of our stay. Streets were completely blocked off, and we were unable to go anywhere for a period of time. This was a major inconvenience and something the hotel should have proactively communicated. Once we entered the room, cleanliness and maintenance were immediate concerns. The showers were dirty, the sink was clogged and drained very slowly, hair was present on the toilet seat, the Kleenex box was practically empty as if it hadn’t been changed, and the toilet paper roll appeared to be from the previous guest, which was particularly disgusting. The sliding door was broken and became difficult to close; my guest and I actually ended up fixing it ourselves. These issues should have been identified and resolved prior to check-in. During our stay, one of the elevators stopped working, causing long wait times. We also requested towels, but they never arrived, and some of the towels provided were stained. I had to personally find a housekeeper to get clean towels. Breakfast was not complimentary and was not even recommended by the staff due to limited offerings—though I appreciated their honesty. There were no microwaves available in the room or on our floor. The only microwave was located in the back with staff, which made me uncomfortable since I prefer to warm my own food myself. One positive note: I accidentally left my makeup bag in the room, and it was returned to me very quickly. Additionally, the staff I spoke with over the phone and during checkout were much friendlier than the staff I encountered upon arrival. I have been a Marriott Bonvoy member for over three years and truly enjoy Marriott hotels, so I want to stress that I am not criticizing the company as a whole—this feedback is specific to this location. Experiences like this can really affect a guest’s overall perception of Marriott and could potentially ruin what is normally a positive experience. We didn’t request a room change despite all these issues because we were traveling with our baby, who was already settled in, and moving would have been too disruptive. That said, the issues we experienced clearly should have been addressed prior to guest occupancy. Would I stay here again? No. This review is not meant to reflect all AC Hotels. I’ve stayed at other AC Hotels without issue, including one in North Carolina where a problem was promptly resolved with a room change. This location clearly needs improvement in cleanliness, maintenance, and guest communication.
This was our favorite hotel when in Columbus. Our visit in mid-December was our last. We had an issue with the bathroom sliding door not closing and the front desk staff was helpful in getting a maintenance worker in on a Sunday. The man we spoke to at the front desk said the manager was informed and we'd be compensated some points for the inconvenience. When no points were returned to our account after a week, we called Marriott and were connected to the General Manager of this location. He said no staff member made him aware of the issue but would compensate us one night of points. We received 15,000 points which didn't equate to either night's stay (one night was 37,000 points and the second night 27,000 points). When we visit in June, we'll use a different Marriott hotel and hopefully be made to feel like a valued customer.
Hotel is in a great location to walk to whatever you’d like to check out in downtown Columbus. The rooms were not the cleanest, could use better housekeeping. Floors were dirty, debris in the bathroom and under the entertainment area. Hotel bar service was good each day we visited.
The young gentleman who helped us on the night of the 26th was absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, and his kindness truly made our stay special. Wonderful service and a great experience — we’ll definitely be back!
