The Hampton Inn Columbus South Fort Benning receives generally positive reviews, particularly highlighting friendly and helpful staff, a convenient location near Fort Benning and the Infantry Museum, and a comfortable stay. However, some guests have noted dated rooms, maintenance issues like malfunctioning equipment and temperature control, and concerns about cleanliness.
I stayed at this location at the beginning of January 2026 . The rooms were spacious yet dated . On the day of check out , the guest services employee banged on my door around 11 am threatening to charge an extra day if not out within 15 mins. She continued to bang on everyone else’s door down the hall making the same threat .Someone said she even started around 10:50am that morning . She was not available at the desk for checkout due to harassment of customers/ patrons. This behavior was unacceptable and I will not return to this location .
Excellent staff, friendly, organized & efficient. They take such pride in their services that it is an amazing “Inn”. Breakfast was delicious, clean. Cookies are fresh. I have traveled the world & if I ever need to return to this area, I will stay here again. Highly Recommend.
Would like to give special thanks to Glenda, Michelle, CC, & Natasha. My husband and I had the best weekend stay here at this location. Glenda, was amazing from beginning to end. She went over and beyond to make sure we were completely taken care of in each way. Excellent customer Svc skills they all represented Hilton, with customers satisfaction. We checked out one room, to a suite next day. Glenda, personally made the accommodation an ez transition for us. CC was very kind about our delay til we moved to our suite. Hubbie lost his debit card in lobby. Michelle, called us right away. Rooms were nice, clean, & comfy. Truly appreciate everyone who we came in contact with. Definitely would recommend this location to family and friends, if they are in the area.
My daughter was traveling to see her boyfriend graduate from bootcamp and her flight home to NY was cancelled due to weather..I called the hotel and Natisha W. was beyond sweet and helpful. She extended my daughter's stay and assure my momma heart that she was going to be all set and not to worry. Natisha was so patient and understanding when I know I was a little frantic....Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
The service and friendliness of this staff is out of this world. We arrived late at night around 11:30pm. It was on a Tuesday and the front desk employee was beyond friendly and kind. Even when we left in the morning she remembered us and just made us feel like family. We had been traveling due to an emergency with my family and her engagement and kind words went along way! Very clean and organized establishment. Good staff is hard to find, keep up the great work!
Over all was a great place to stay and would recommend it. However, the room left me a little disappointed. Hair could be found in a few spots on the floor. Bathroom was a bit dated with its 70s shower and toilet. AC was loud and rattled with water damage on the wall around it. Gave me a Motel 6 vibe. Issues listed may be tedious on my part, but expected better for the price paid. I still recommend it as overall the place was clean and well kept. Perfect location if your are visiting Fort Benning. The solder figurines on the support pillars in the lobby is a nice touch!
While there, we had great interactions with staff. They were very helpful and engaging. Our rooms were clean as was the dining area. Really appreciated the 24 hour coffee/tea bar.
The demise of the Hilton brand is a drama; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry and eventually you’ll leave. My stay here was not terrible. The check-in was friendly, the lobby is especially well done and the exterior is well-kept. But there were lots of things broken – three of the five treadmills/elliptical machines were down and the toilet handle required heavy lifting to get a flush. An exterior side door didn't work. The most significant malfunction was the heat – there was none. With temps in the 30s, it was an icy, sleep-in-sweats situation. This marks my sixth not-great stay in a row at a Hilton property, which includes Hamptons, a Doubletree and two Embassy Suites. I’m saddened by the failures, as I don’t think it is necessarily the fault of the locals. I see that in its most recent earnings call – HLT stock is strong – its CEO noted “disciplined cost management” and credited its “fee-based model” for its growth. That talk comes at the expense of the customer at a small Hampton in Georgia. Again, this property is not terrible. It’s a two-star hotel with a three-star price. I am divesting of my 150K Hilton points, so will be back with a report on the next stays. The percentages say one will be good.
Stayed here when my son had 4 day pass after Turning Blue. HIghly recommend this hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean, comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet has a lot of variety. It is located next to the Infantry Museum which is highly recommended to see why you are in the area.
Spacious, well kept rooms, welcoming guest spaces, delicious breakfasts, all minutes from Fort Benning, adjacent to the outstanding National Infantry Museum and a short drive to lovely downtown Columbus. MOST IMPORTANT are the warm and professional staff. Nateisha made all the difference for us, making us feel like guests who were genuinely cared about not just confirmation numbers. Thank you for your kind hospitality and a wonderful stay during a memorable family weekend which you contributed to. We hope to return again soon.
