Candlewood Suites Columbus/Fort Benning receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the kitchen facilities, friendly staff like Destiny and Stephanie, and convenient location. However, recent feedback highlights significant issues with cleanliness, mold infestations, and malfunctioning appliances, along with a concerning lack of responsiveness from management regarding maintenance and billing disputes.
I had called to make my reservation. The receptionist help me change the date of my check in because there was an error. She made it quick and easy to check in. The pool area was nice and clean. Loved my stay.
Pros: The people are the best part. Every employee I encountered was polite and professional. The rooms are aesthetically pleasing and the bed was comfortable. I also did not see any bugs during my stay. Cons: SIGNIFICANT amounts of black mold in the AC unit left me with severe migraines, nausea and respiratory issues for the duration of my stay and I am still recovering. Unfortunately, I did not notice the mold until I was packing everything up to leave or else I would have left and found another hotel. The floors were pretty dirty as well. There were hairs and sequins on the floor when I arrived, indicating the room hadn't been vacuumed before they assigned the room to a guest and that's pretty unacceptable. After taking a shower, I made the mistake of walking around barefoot and the soles of my feet were almost black within just a few minutes of walking around in the room. The pool was also incredibly dirty. Lastly, it is in a TERRIBLE part of town, although, they do keep it very safe inside the hotel property
Nice Just no room service, but you can request fresh linens and so, and its due to they have extended stay And they don't offer breakfast because every room has a kitchenette in it. There is a Walmart down the street you can buy groceries , its also a grilling area. Its nice the staff is nice
I really wish there were more places like this where I live.La'Monica is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She knew me and my family were stuck and waiting hours hours til check in. But she went out of her way to pull some strings to get us in our room early .... love her. Also Steph the manager is so kind and professional. Amazing stay because they both put in the effort and cared.
I booked ahead for a 2 night stay at the Candlewood Suites in Columbus, GA. When we arrived, the front desk worker informed us she was new and having trouble. She had paper printouts for guest check ins and couldnt find our information. It seemed odd to have paper prints in 2026, especially when we had booked online. After waiting for a long time, she gave us our room keys. When I scanned the key, someone screamed inside so I quickly shut the door. A woman opened it up in a panic and I informed her the front desk gave us keys to that room. We went back downstairs and the front desk worker was very confused and overwhelmed. She couldn't understand how the other people had been given our room. She also couldn't find another suite for us and proceeded to complain and rummage through the papers for awhile. Another guest tried to buy some drinks and toiletries and the front desk couldn't seem to ring them up properly. I called a different hotel and they were able to book me immediately for a room to accommodate my family. We told the front desk we were leaving and would contact corporate for the refund as she did not know how to process transactions at all, especially not a cancellation and refund (I had already been charged for the stay). Later that night, I contacted customer service for IHG Hotels and Resorts through their automated system. It took an hour before the representative could provide me a case number and let me know that management would call me the next day to resolve my issue. I never received a call and the charges for the room have not been refunded. Avoid this poorly managed hotel at all costs! They are at best, incredibly incompetent and at worst, predatory!
Would not stay here again, our room was not cleaned at all, if so did a mediocre job. Chips left on the floor around the bed, hair in the shower and on shower curtain, dirty dishes left in the dishwasher. Silverware tray had food stuck on the spoon and the tray. The fridge wasn’t cleaned had food stuck to shelves. Overall disgusting.
Our first room was very hot and the AC would not turn on so we were moved. The new room seemed to meet our expectations until we realized we weren’t the only “guests” in the room. The kitchen area was crawling with small roaches and there were signs of roach infestation in the cabinets. The young woman at the front desk was very empathetic to our situation but there were no other rooms available so we had to find another hotel. While I was waiting for a resolution at the front desk another guest was complaining because their ac was out, they had found roaches, and their toilet didn’t work. I’m surprised that IHG would put their name on a hotel in such disarray. The clerk was great but the facility is in serious need of tlc.
I had a wonderful experience booking a hotel with Destiny. She was incredibly patient, kind, and helpful throughout the entire hotel booking process. She took the time to answer all my questions and made sure everything was taken care of perfectly. I truly appreciated how easy she made the whole experience. Thank you so much!
Dear Candlewood Suites Team, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and express my sincere gratitude to the staff at Candlewood Suites Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia. I have been a guest here for the past week as I transition from one home to a permanent residence, and it has been a challenging time for me. From the moment I arrived, Destiny, the Guest Service Representative, has been phenomenal in assisting me through this process. Her support has made a significant difference during this stressful time, and I am truly grateful for her patience and understanding. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Monica and Stephanie for their kindness, as well as a special thank you to Laura. I regret any discomfort that may have occurred this morning, and I sincerely apologize for it. Thank you all for being there for me and for your unwavering support. Your compassion and patience mean the world to me, and I deeply appreciate everything you do. I also appreciate housekeeping very much for making sure that I have what I need. Thanks for your kindness at it best. Warm regards, Angela Bell
This place is actually quite nice. Common sense will tell you that this isn't a luxury hotel. This is, however, a nice place to stay if you need the basics for a few weeks. I was pleased with the full kitchen in the room, the gym (nothing fancy but gets the job done), and the self laundry on site. The full sized fridge allowed me to buy groceries to last a while, and a full complement of dishes to cook without having to go out. There is also a gas grill outside. I would have preferred a charcoal grill, possibly in addition, but I understand it is not as popular these days. The rooms are clean and have plenty of storage to fully unpack so I didn't have to live out of a bag. There was a shortage of hangers in my room, but with the friendly and responsive staff they have, I'm sure if I'd have called down they'd have brought more. It is worth noting that the shower has rather good water pressure. I'll admit, that is quite important after a long day. The air conditioning works extremely well, but it is a bit loud. That being said, I have only been to very few hotels that do not have a loud AC. The hotel is located in a good central location to lots of places to eat (not really walking distance, but walking distance is relative), and an extremely short drive to downtown. Bottom line, I recommend this establishment.
