The Microtel Inn & Suites Columbus Fort Benning receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising the friendly and helpful staff, particularly James, Josh, and Marcus, as well as the clean rooms and convenient location near Fort Benning. However, concerns regarding dated facilities, parking limitations, and occasional issues with room cleanliness and amenities persist.
Had it not been for the staff & the distance from Ft Benning, I would’ve rated lower. There were finger prints on the TV & stains on some of the room’s linen. The walls are also pretty thin, & it’s not the hotel staff’s fault when some of the guests are inconsiderate of others.
Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. We had plenty of toilet paper, towels, and pillows. Water pressure was great in the shower. The only hot thing for breakfast was a pancake maker and if you made oatmeal, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. No scrambled eggs or sausage or any protein besides boiled eggs, but it was free so. The location was convenient so close to the highway but the immediate area is fairly rundown with lots of trash and random clothing lying around. Next time we will probably stay closer to downtown or somewhere on Exit 6 but thats not due to the hotel at all, just the surrounding area. We enjoyed our stay!
Stayed here for 4-nights as we were attending a turning blue ceremony and graduation ceremony the following day. We didn’t need a fancy hotel, just someplace close to Ft. Benning that was clean and affordable. The neighborhood around the hotel was satisfactory but not great. You felt safe. The hotel is next to the highway so traffic sounds do carry through to the rooms (so request a room opposite the highway). The interior of the hotel is dated - carpet, drapes, paint all need updating- BUT IT IS CLEAN!! All of the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Shoutout to Nikki for recommending places to eat (The Loft downtown was good) Our room had 2-queen beds, a microwave, a mini fridge and a 1-cup coffee maker. (Someone stole the iron, but we didn’t need one anyway) Long story short, yes we would stay here again. But strictly as a clean affordable place to sleep- not a romantic getaway.
I cannot attest to the quality of the hotel. I called direct to the front desk to cancel a reservation. The representative that answered the phone was NIKKI. I have never received such wonderful customer service! She could not find my reservation so she took the time to call a sister hotel and see if the wrong location was booked. She took 15 minutes trying to assist me. Service like hers is hard to find these days. Kudos to you NIKKI!!! Thank you so much for your assistance. Your service was appreciated.
I (female in her 30's) arrived around midnight. (other party was already checked in, so this wasn't a late "check-in". 1) the parking lot requires you to make way more than a 3 point turn if you dead end on the right side. 2) the parking was small & all spots were taken up. One truck took up 6 spaces parked w/ their trailer. 3) I went to the front desk to ask where I should park. The lady told me that "overflow parking" was next door a different hotel. (No offer to help w/ the bags (not even one of those cart things) 4) There is NO connection, /walkway/ sidewalk from the hotel I had to park at & one I had to walk to. Unless you walk all the way to the entrance, the path between hotels is steep, uneven & covered in pinecones. 5) If you sit on the toilet, it would shift slightly. 6) My mom requested someone fix the wobbly toilet & plunge it because it randomly wouldn't flush & it nearly overflowed. After 4+ hours, she had to request for them to unstop the toilet again.
The rooms where nice the staff was nice and the maintenance man chris was extremely helpful and very nice He fixed our toliet. Which was much needed seems i have no gallbladder lol and the next day he check up on us to make sure everything was good. The location is also very convenient.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! The standout feature of my experience was undoubtedly the staff, who were ridiculously nice and attentive to every need. A special shout-out goes to Christian, Angel, and Phoenix. Christian greeted me with a warm smile and made the check-in process a breeze. Angel was incredibly helpful throughout my stay, providing recommendations for local attractions and ensuring my every request was met with enthusiasm. Phoenix brought unmatched energy to the team; their genuine kindness and willingness to assist made me feel truly valued as a guest. The level of service provided by these three was unparalleled. They went above and beyond to create a welcoming atmosphere, making my stay unforgettable. If you're looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about your experience, this hotel is the perfect choice! Thank you, Christian, Angel, and Phoenix, for making my visit so special!
We came from Arkansas for our son's turning blue and graduation from the army national guard infantry. The staff was so tentative and understanding. Always making sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was good especially them pancakes yall. Some of the best we have had in a while. The rooms was clean. Plenty of pillows and blankets. The AC was on point in keeping the room cooled. Also might I say the water pressure was amazing! My husband said it was so good that it would knock the stink off. If we are ever back in Columbus we will definitely be using y'all again. Thank you so much for our home away from home. Stay blessed and humble y'all!
This motel was very easy to find just after exiting interstate. Plenty of parking. The place appeared to be very clean and no "bad odors". The elevators were clean and working, the hallways were nice and clean. And now my room. Entering the room, I noticed that it appeared clean but I immediately saw several rips/tears in the carpet. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom and there was roach bugs hanging out under the bathroom trash can. I called the desk about the shower curtain the next morning and the young lady that I spoke with, (the best I could understand her mumbles) I think she said that she would send one up to my room. She sounded as if I was inconveniencing her at 5:30am. I waited for about an hour, and no one ever came with the curtain, so I grabbed my things and got out of there. By no means would I would never recommend this place to anyone and I will never be a guest there again. VERY VERY POOR JOB Wyndham.
Cost was as expected. Rooms were clean but some much more worn than others and although not necessary for my stay, some items were not in the room as stated on the website. Comfortable beds and pillows. The breakfast options were very, very limited. Service itself was great, very friendly accommodating staff. Location was easy to get to with ample parking.
