The Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Columbus North receives mixed reviews, with a strong emphasis on friendly staff and a convenient location near military installations. However, guests frequently report issues with unexpected fees, inconsistent cleanliness, and occasional maintenance problems like malfunctioning amenities. While many appreciate the value and quiet surroundings, recent experiences have highlighted inconsistencies in service and billing practices.
Motel was sufficient for what we needed, location if your attending army grad is about 20 mins out from main gate, take the sandhill for easier access to grad locations, the price you see is a good deal but what they charge you is not the same as booked, some "hidden" cost that will take you 10-14 days to re-coupe is if they are booked to capacity they will pre authorize 1 night ahead of stay that is not part of your stay cost, when you arrive you will then pay for your nights of stay with $100 incidental hold for each room booked just so you are prepared for the additional "reinbursed" cost... in our case we had two rooms booked for our daughter in law and us so was additional $386 that was charged to be reimbursed for 2 nights total was $840 put taken from account... all the staff was super helpful and friendly so that was a huge plus, rooms were not immaculate but clean enough for the price. We probably would choose to stay closer knowing the cost saved was not exactly "saved" if we had to do over again so that our son had somewhere to relax on his two days of pass. That being said it was sufficient and clean location, with attentive staff. Hope this helps someone prepare.... "This we'll defend, follow me"
This hotel is one of the best! Our room was the cleanest we've ever had. That includes more expensive hotels too! The bathroom was immaculate!!!! Kudos to the cleaning staff! The young lady who checked us in and the lady who checked us out were very nice. Breakfast wasn't bad. Maybe needs a few more tables but it worked. We will stay here again if we pass through the area.
This hotel is always clean and organized. Never have security issues. Bright lights are around the parking lot. All the employees show their Southern hospitality, friendly, and helpful. The dog park was small but maintained very well. Dog waste bags were always available for use. This hotel is about 20 drive to Columbus downtown, but it is located in a quiet area. A Shell gas station is right there but far enough to keep noise away. For all of these positive things, I always stay here when coming to Columbus.
The staff was extremely nice and the lobby was inviting and cozy. The hotel is older and I took that in consideration. The mattress was extremely soft and uncomfortable. I did like the shower head it gave a nice message. Guests were loud and slamming doors throughout the night. Between the mattress and the loud guests I did not get much rest.
My stay was comfortable and quiet. I really enjoyed our room. Very clean! We ran into an issue with our shower head not working, but by the time we came back after reporting the problem at the front desk and leaving it was fixed and worked great! I wish I knew her name, but the lady working night shift was so lovely and made our check in after a stressful flight easy. Also there is a gym! If you are a gym girly you could definitely get a workout in. Overall for the price this is a solid motel to stay at in Columbus Georgia.
Good: super friendly staff, very clean, loved the microwavable breakfast sandwiches, awesome Christmas decorations! Not so good: 1. The room had no closet, no drawers, and no bathroom counter. Just a sink with thin edges, and one peg in the wall for hangers. It was tough to settle in for the whole week with such linited space options. 2. I dont know what in the world happened with my security deposit. I originally booked the stay with a card that expired between booking and arrival. When we arrived, I swiped my NEW card for the room charge, and swiped the NEW card again for the $100 deposit. When we checked out, the attendant said the deposit refund wouldn't process and she didn't know why. I called around noon to try my wife's card. They said they couldn't take a card over the phone and I should call my bank. So I did, and my bank said they were running the old expired card's expiration date. Then I called the hotel, they said they couldn't change the expiration date over the phone. But they shouldn't have needed to, because I swiped the NEW card to pay the $100 in the first place! The hotel manager said to call my bank again. So I did, and the bank gave me long instructions for how the hotel could send a fax/email to the bank to drop the $100 hold. I called the hotel again to relay these instructions, and the attendant said only the manager could do that and he just left for his 1 week vacation. One hour, five phone calls, no resolution.
Everything was great! Renee and Taylor weee amazing at the desk. I chose not to eat breakfast because I wanted more of a variety but the item as that were there will suffice if you need something on your stomach. I will definitely be staying again.
That was my first time in one of those hotel, to be quite honest you went a lot better than I expected. Their reputation in Georgia, from what I’ve heard from friends who have stayed in the frequently, has not been great, hence the reason I have always done my best to avoid them, but this was a last minute and the location I needed it, it was the most convenient at the time… I’m glad to see that this one stood out. The gentleman at the desk was very polite and very helpful,
Really a nice place for the price. There is no pool at this location unfortunately. Customer service was great, staff was friendly and the rooms were 4 out of 5 for me due to toilet making noise ( but kept door close), had to use a face rag as a stopper in tub and key pad for some reason wouldn't open door on last night ( change key out 2 times, then had to be let in). But over all I would stay here again. Area is nice and clean as well as walking distance to 2 gas station, a liquor store, and a bar and grill. Also about a 7 minute drive to shopping stores, restaurants and Walmart.
First and last time at this Inn/Suite. Checked in Friday evening until Sunday. Friday night roaches in bathroom and 1 on the bed 3 am in the morning. Was moved Saturday to another room. 12 midnight extremely loud music started. Tried calling the front desk and the phone wouldn't work. Went to go to the front desk and the elevator out of service causing me to now have to go from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor by steps and back up. I was so frustrated I asked for the mgr and finally so call mgr Herman comes out. I wasn't nice and was fed up with everything. I told Herman everything that had happened since arriving the night before. I told him he needed to come to the 3rd floor about the loud noise. He told me he was doing something and I could wait. My reply was no. I said this didn't make since and Herman reply was if I didn't like it I could leave. My reply was if we wasn't 7 hrs away we would and I walked away to climb 3 flights of steps. Little mgr Herman did come and knocked on the room with the loud noise. Already know the owner will send out a generic response to this. Lisa was very nice but Herman needs to learn proper customer service and management verbiage when speaking to paying customers.
