Guests consistently report mixed experiences at the Baymont Inn & Suites-Columbus, with a significant number highlighting cleanliness and maintenance issues. While some staff members, like Varteesa, are praised for their exceptional service and empathy, numerous reviews detail problems ranging from unsanitary conditions and roach infestations to rude staff and outdated facilities. Recent reviews have especially emphasized alarming levels of filth and safety concerns.
Let me tell you about my stay, I am enjoying a breakfast pallet not just a breakfast. Optimistic staff and are as down to earth as you can get. I will definitely be saving on my list of go to spots. I love the banana muffins!! My room was very nice, 3 pillows! I enjoyed my stay inside and outside the building! The front desk and the staff are very understanding and firm. If they can, they will. I recommend Baymont. I love listening to them Dawgs!
Varteesa was absolutely wonderful. After a really bad experience at another hotel, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. She was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely accommodating, which made a stressful situation so much better. Her empathy and attention to detail truly stood out, and she turned our stay around completely. Because of the outstanding service we received, we will be returning for my son’s next graduation in March and plan on staying here again. Thank you, Varteesa, for restoring our faith in great hospitality!
5-star staff. Despite the budget accommodations, I was highly impressed with the friendliness and attentiveness of the Baymont team. David and the front desk crew are all very personable and helpful, and the housekeeping staff do an amazing job. A+
First off the location/area wasn’t bad, there’s lots of food places next to the building, shopping, gas stations, ect. BUT when we got there there were stretchy people hanging out in the parking lot coming and going watching us the whole time, gave me the creeps for sure. Outside stairs and hall area were dirty which was expected because it’s outside, I did not explore the lobby because the desk women had her friends hanging out on the couches eating food. They also parked directly in front of the door as well. Women at the front desk wasn’t rude but definitely was mad to be there and had no care in the world to be professional to the customer on the phone smacking her gum loudly. Walked into the room and it was clear the door hadn’t been opened in a long time. The room was musty, hot, & dirty. They for sure hadn’t cleaned anything in weeks if not months. Toilet was used and not cleaned, shower drain filled with hair, can barely open the door while in the bathroom it’s so small. The beds had been flipped because of the huge dark brown mystery stain on the entire top of the mattress. Sheets had cigarette burns that looked to be from the maid. Carpet was dirty as well, the furniture was WELL OVER outdated and dirty, nothing wiped off in the slightest had to clean the room MYSELF. The A/C and heating worked fine although it did smell, fridge works, microwave worked, as well as the tv. Again the sketchy people outside were being loud in the night making it difficult to sleep. Funny enough they only decided to “clean” the room every time we left. The first time I noticed things of mine in the room were moved but nothing was cleaned. The last time 1/3 of the mini trashes were taken out. We paid about $250 for 3 nights even though the online payment was more than double that, and online reservations said only one room available but yet there were about 7-8 other people in the entire building. But we left after the second to another hotel because we couldn’t stay any longer. In the morning they blow leaf blowers directly in front of the doors waking us up, yet when we came out it was still dirty. No handicap parking, and the maintenance parked behind us making it difficult to leave. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone ESPECIALLY if you are traveling alone or have kids with you.
Giving it a two out of 5 because when we checked in it was all smiles and rainbows. But when we got to our rooms. It was not properly cleaned behind the doors there was still hair from other people in the floor. The shower felt like there was something on the floor of it. The shower head will not work and on top of that the front desk lady took away the breakfast while we were still eating!! Don’t get me wrong she is nice but she did not know anything about common sense. Also the manager/owner of the whole place is just rude, good with kids but RUDE.
Absolutely disgusting – please avoid. We stayed here for 3 days for our nephew’s Army graduation and it was a nightmare. The rooms were FILTHY. There were roaches, dust everywhere, and nothing was clean. The microwave was gross, the beds were TWIN size (not what we expected), and no one ever came to clean the room during our stay. We asked the front desk for towels and sheets, and they literally told us to go find a cleaner ourselves — we never got them. One of our family members is allergic to dust, and this made it a miserable stay. We had multiple rooms and spent good money — but didn’t get basic cleanliness or service. ?? Do better! People travel with families and expect a clean, safe place to stay. This was beyond unacceptable.
Terrible. Beware of 3rd party booking at high price plus $20 insurance cost added to your credit card. Extra $50 damage fee upon arrival, room may smell; take pictures of damages upon arrival; ask for remote for room; call to see why TV does not have a signal; 6:40 am the dogs in the adjacent building may awaken you; No " Do Not Disturb" signs; maid knocked at 10:05 am twice, although you were gone from Noon to 8 pm, bed unmade, no towels, etc. THERE IS NO BREAKFAST, COFFEE, WATER TO HEAT UP IN MICROWAVE FOR TEA...A JOKE.
The room was ok for a one night pass thru but when we went to breakfast it was filthy. No one had cleaned up. All the tables were dirty. Housekeeping was hanging around smoking pot on the stairs we needed to get down (there were no elevators) and it was right outside the entrance to the lobby. I wouldn’t stay again.
Always read the most recent reviews… I didn’t, and wish I had. Booked a room for my fiancé, after she showed me the place on a travel site. Well, she gets there and finds a cigarette in the toilet of her room, the room has an odor, the tub doesn’t look cleaned, there was a blunt roach outside her door (to be fair it was night time), and the pool has “something” in the corners of it. Maybe look elsewhere if you can.
The hotel owner is awful! Very judgmental people! And the black lady that works front desk in the mornings…I witnessed several time on 4 different stays her cussing other employees in front of the guest and in front of children! She had made several racial slurs towards her co workers! This is very unprofessional!
