The Residence Inn Columbus receives mixed reviews, with positive comments highlighting helpful and friendly staff, particularly Melissa Homuth, and a convenient location near Fort Benning. However, significant concerns regarding cleanliness, pest infestations (roaches), and noise levels consistently emerge across multiple recent reviews, indicating potential management issues and inconsistent service standards.
The rooms were clean. The ladies at the front desk were sweet and helpful. I'd stay there again. I had a group of four, the two bedroom suite custom fit our needs.
Checked in on 5/21- shower had black hairs in the shower, drawers for utensils had food. I went to the front desk on 5/22 and was told to email the manager, and send the pics. Asked about housekeeping and was told it was due on Saturday. Called the front desk at 6:50pm and was told the room was due for a refresh today but housekeeping works 10-2 but they had someone still there. Asked if someone could take some clean towels and coffee to the room and Jennifer said “ no, we can’t, but you can come to to the front desk”. We were heading to a reception so generally given the issues, I would think they could make an exception. For a Marriott hotel, I’m deeply disappointed and will be asking for some of my points back that I used to stay here. Do better! Update: they did take towels and coffee to my room but still didn’t clean it.
Front desk lady was incredibly nice and helpful. Room was pretty decent, kitchen was nice enough for a hotel and had just about everything piece of silverware or dish you could need for a simple meal. All the amenities looked great and well maintained. The only issue we had was getting threatened to be removed from the premises for getting noise complaints after simple cooking a meal in the hotel we specifically paid extra to have a kitchen in. Manager was extremely rude when he came to our door at around 10:30pm. We drove 12 hours to visit a buddy for his army graduation and didnt check in until 9:30pm. Never once were we excessively loud, yelling, laughing playing music, watching loud TV, or banging stuff around. Manager seemed as if we had just personally insulted him and his family. Not our fault the floors are hardwood and thin as paper. Wouldn't have minded if the Manager was friendly and kindly told us we were being a little loud. Would love to give 1 star for the rude and unnecessary Manager, but even at checkout the front desk ladies were incredibly nice and respectful. Would 100% recommend this hotel as long as you dont like walking past 10pm and grumpy pants is not on shift.
We stayed here back in November 2025 during the week of Thanksgiving and unfortunately, our room had a bad roach infestation in the kitchen. We didn't see them until we had unpacked and settled down the first night, but we reported it to the front desk and the person behind the desk seemed very inexperienced and caught off guard. They offered to either have us switch rooms or have housekeeping give our room a "deep clean" the next day. We didn't want to move since it was late and we already got settled and it appeared the roaches were just in the kitchen, so we agreed to have our room cleaned the next day. We saw housekeepers in the hallway near our room the next morning and left a note with a nice tip in our room on the kitchen counter and didn't put the "do not disturb" sign on our door handle, so we assumed our room would be cleaned. We came back at the end of the day to the note and tip still on the counter and roaches in the kitchen; it was very obvious nobody came to clean our room. We reported this to the front desk and all we got was a simple apology and no explanation of what happened or offer to remediate this appalling experience. The only reason this place doesn't get 1 star from us is because the breakfast every morning was nice and there was a wide variety of options, and the location was convenient for us. Definitely not a very pleasant experience otherwise and management needs to look into this.
I recently stayed at the Residence Inn in Columbus, Georgia. The room itself was clean and well maintained, which I appreciated. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating, making check-in and any questions easy and pleasant. Unfortunately, the hotel was very noisy during our stay. We could clearly hear other guests using their showers, and our door would continuously rattle when other doors on the floor were closed. We could also hear people in the hallways, which made it difficult to relax or sleep. As a loyal Marriott customer, this experience was disappointing. The overall atmosphere felt a bit sketchy at times, particularly due to some questionable activity in the rear parking lot where we initially parked, which ultimately caused us to move our car. While the staff and cleanliness were positives, I would not recommend this location based on my experience.
Great Hotel! Very clean and the staff is very nice. The rooms are renovated and look great! I recommend this Hotel for all my clients!
I travel 80 nights a year & this is where I stay when in Columbus, GA. It's not new but the price is reasonable, rooms are spacious & clean, people are genuinely nice, and plenty of dining & shopping within a mile. I once stayed at a similar property nearby and it was rough.
I had such a great stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Columbus! The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable, but what really made the difference was the staff. Shannon, Ava, and Melissa were amazing—so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They went above and beyond, especially when helping arrange a room for my son, who is active duty Army, and needed a place to stay for a couple of nights. Their kindness and effort meant so much, and I truly appreciate it. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Columbus! It’s not often you find a place where the team makes you feel right at home, but that’s exactly what I experienced here. I’ll definitely stay again next time I’m in Columbus!
The scent they use is very strong in the lobby and in the room. The location was great for our visit to Ft Benning.
