The Fairfield Inn & Suites Columbus presents a mixed experience, highlighted by friendly and hospitable staff, but significantly impacted by recurring cleanliness and maintenance issues, including mold, slow internet, and malfunctioning appliances. Recent reviews indicate a decline in service and property upkeep.
Great 2-4 person rooms with 2 televisions (one didn't work for ours but that really didn't matter) and lots of space. Sink is separate from the toilet and shower, which I liked. Has a desk if you have to do work. Little bit tricky to get on the internet, I had to look up how to find the site to connect as it didn't automatically give you full access, however other than that it was great. The staff was absolutely amazing and helped all of us well, even though we were a very big group. Thank you so much for all your support!
I arrived at the hotel at 9:55 PM and there was no one at the front desk. I could hear someone in a back room on their phone, but despite trying to get their attention, no one came out until 10:30 PM. When the employee finally appeared, they told me they did not have any room keys and needed to go to another location to find some. I then waited another 20 minutes for them to leave and return. I was told they would bring a key directly to my room, but I waited until 12:30 AM and no one ever showed up. I was left without a key entirely. Because I never received a key, I was unable to access my room again in the morning and missed breakfast as a result. At checkout, the front desk receptionist asked how my stay was. When I explained what happened, she laughed in my face, said “have a good day,” and told me I had been checked out. There was no apology, no concern, and no attempt to fix the situation. This was one of the most unprofessional and frustrating hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Poor staffing, poor communication, and completely disrespectful customer service. I would not recommend staying here.
Every single person who worked at this hotel was unbelievably friendly and hospitable. The staff was absolutely amazing. The hotel is in need of renovations but I cannot say enough about how wonderful the staff was. From the front desk staff to the lady working the breakfast to the individuals cleaning… they all went above and beyond.
I had one of the most disappointing hotel stays at the Fairfield Inn on East Armour. From the moment I checked in, the experience was subpar. The second and third floors smelled strongly of mold and mildew, and the odor carried into my room. Overall, the building is older and you can tell. The internet was so slow it was basically unusable. When I asked about it, even another guest was complaining, but the front desk agent told us to “call corporate” because management doesn’t listen. The fridge in my first room didn’t work at all, and even though I reported it in the morning, nothing was fixed by the time I returned that evening. I was moved to another room, but there the television didn’t work. On top of that, the “hot breakfast” was not actually hot. It was a premade burrito. At midnight, I gave up and checked out, moving across the street to another hotel. I’ve stayed at other Marriott properties of this caliber and had a much better experience, but unfortunately this one fell far below Fairfield standards. I would not recommend staying here.
Checked in for a week stay back in February 2020 and it was a mixed bag at best. The room itself was spacious enough, and the free breakfast had the usual suspects (eggs coffee), but the bathroom? Walked in to a tub with visible grime streaks along the bottom and sides, like it hadn't seen a proper scrub. The toilet bowl had those stubborn waterline stains and dark spots, making the space feel dingy and uninviting. Staff was friendly enough during check-in, but maintenance clearly needs a boost. For the rate, it's passable for a quick overnight, but since I am returning to the area and see things have not changed, I will go to a more capable Hotel brand and never return there.
It was just not good. The pictures online look great of this place but it's just not good, at all. There were people hanging around reception everytime I went down. I should have turned right around when we pulled into the parking lot and people were just hanging out in their cars. The whole hotel smelled of marijuana. Guests had the door that leads to the outside of the pool area propped open smoking when we tried to go to the pool. Grown adults playing loud music, drinking and dancing in the pool. Rooms were old looking, bathroom had mold on the ceiling. Honestly, I felt like I was in a Super 8. The floor in our room was absolutely soaking wet due to some issue with the air conditioner. We had to change rooms once we took our shoes off and realized. The desk clerk was very nice and that's about all I can say good about the place. We really did not feel safe here. As we arrived late and our $137 rate we paid was non refundable we barricaded our door and left first thing in the morning.
Excellent location although the staff definitely needs to communicate better with each other. They had to change our room due to maintenance. We were okay with that. The second room was a little better but the air was not working properly. Apparently, the room change wasn’t communicated or noted with the next shift. The next morning I was greeted with knocking at the room door asking WHY were we in the room and WHO let us in this room AND what was the person’s name that told us to come to this room.?? Not a pleasant experience at all. Customer service was at an all time low!!!
I travel for work a lot, and I would normally give this hotel two stars. Simple breakfast. AC did not reduce humidity in my room. Shower had no control for water pressure, so I was blasted. But I’m giving it a one star review to counter balance the people that are making points by giving a rave review. See attached picture
Super comfy beds, clean environment, and friendly staff. Just about everything you could ask for and everything you need. Breakfast had a ton of options, super nice staff.
My job had me staying in many hotels across the country. I can't recall one better managed than this one. You can tell it's the management because the courtesy, professionalism, quality and customer service stretch out through all levels and types of staff. They want your stay to be enjoyable for sure.
