Recent reviews at the Homewood Suites Columbus reveal a mixed experience, dominated by significant operational challenges. Guests consistently report issues with cleanliness, including mold, stains, and unpleasant odors, alongside unresolved maintenance concerns such as broken amenities and HVAC problems. While some staff members are praised for their helpfulness, the overall experience is marred by a lack of consistent quality control and communication.

Homewood Suites is under new ownership, but honestly, I don't know who is at fault because the new owners and the old owners were both very unprofessional. On November 7, 2025, I booked their venue for my daughter's graduation party and paid a $250 deposit toward the $500 rental fee. I booked months in advance because I wanted to avoid the stress of trying to find a venue at the last minute. In 2026, my intuition kept telling me to call because I was worried they would overbook the venue. I was so focused on my daughter's prom and other graduation activities that I never made that call. On March 24, 2026, my decorator and I went to the hotel to look at the venue. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, I got a sick feeling in my stomach because the parking lot was full of construction materials. When I walked inside and asked the front desk clerk to see the venue for my May 23, 2026 reservation, she looked confused. I asked if she was able to locate my reservation. She said yes, but there was an issue. She never explained what the issue was until after making several phone calls. Eventually, she told me the room would not be available on May 23. I asked to speak with someone else. The next person I spoke with was actually standing in the venue area, which was also full of equipment. He told me the room was not available. When I asked why I had never been notified, he looked clueless and said the previous owner did not give them my information. He claimed they only had reservations through the end of 2025. I asked him a very simple question: Did it not occur to anyone to ask about reservations for 2026 since people book events months in advance? He could not answer me. Then I asked about getting my deposit back, and he told me he didn't even know if that would be possible. From that point on, I was given different email addresses and told to contact different people. I was asked for proof of purchase and a receipt. Although I could not locate my receipt, I provided proof from my bank statement showing the payment. It felt like nobody wanted to do their job until I sent a strongly worded email and showed up at the hotel while management was actually on duty. Funny enough, when management finally got involved, they were suddenly able to locate my receipt in their system and process my refund. So, in my experience, emails were useless. Showing up in person was the only way to get anything accomplished. Because of this situation, I was left scrambling to find another venue for my daughter's graduation party. For a while, I honestly thought I was going to have to cancel the entire event. The stress and inconvenience this caused were completely unnecessary and could have been avoided with one simple phone call. Thankfully, I did find another venue. The venue was beautiful—actually much nicer than Homewood Suites. Unfortunately, the owner of that venue turned out to be just as unprofessional and just as poor at communication. The only reason my daughter's graduation celebration happened as planned is because I refused to give up and kept pushing for answers. No customer who books months in advance, pays a deposit, and trusts a business to honor its commitment should have to go through what I experienced.

So disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The tub had hair in it and mold on the caulking in the tub. The pillow cases and sheets had stains on them. On the side of one of the beds there was spit or vomit on it. The sofa had stains on it. The kitchen floor was sticky and the room had an odor to it. The lady at the front desk was very kind. I do not recommend staying at this hotel

This hotel is under renovation so there is not a real front desk. The room was renovated but the refrigerator did not work at all and the furniture was clearly old and beat up. The breakfast was okay but not really stocked well. They should let people know it is being renovated. Parking was very limited because of storage containers blocking half of the parking lot.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel around 6 months ago and returned knowing it was old and in need of renovations but at that time had a stocked kitchen and was "ok" regarding cleanliness. We both have bad dust allergies have food allergies so book extended stay hotels to be able to cook for ourselves. This stay....A HOT MESS!! Walked into a lobby fully under renovation construction and new management. The young lady at the non existent front desk was doing her absolute best to make the best of a very bad situation. She was very kind and positive and did all she could in the way of service, so my 5 stars for service are solely for her. We received no prior notification from management when we booked that renovations were underway. The room had no flatware to speak of, 1 juice glass, a large pot and fry pan to cook with, no cooking utensils, no bowls etc nothing else. A dishwasher that did not work and was full of nasty smelling water. The refrigerator seals were so sticky it was probably the only reason the refrigerator doors stayed closed. Linens were stained, dingy and looked dirty. The room was dirty and not just from construction dust from the lobby. The walls around the toilet, vanity and above the cook top were disgusting. Then the next morning we killed and cleaned up 4 roaches! That room should NEVER have been in the rentable/available inventory. If the conditions were just due to renovations that would be one thing, however the conditions were just ridiculous and need to be addressed. The location is great, however the condition of room 101 was deplorable!

This hotel is unnecessarily long. The only hotel I’ve ever been to where I would get lost trying to find the lobby or side doors. The room I had was a king suite and the light in the bathroom didn’t work. The AC unit was a wall unit and was blowing towards the door. And due to the size of the suite compared to the size of the wall unit it was nearly impossible to cool or heat the area I was sleeping in.

My stay was enjoyed very much. Thank you to every single housekeeper. The hot breakfast wasn’t great the first day but they had more than enough to offer. The next day it was amazing! There was a breakfast server who was really a little painfully loud. She smiled a lot but I caught her rolling her eyes numerous times. And she was on the phone I believe, on an ear piece having a couple loud conversations that were probably inappropriate for where she was. But a big thank you to everyone who ensured I had a great stay. Even with the renovation going on!

The only positive thing about this hotel was the water pressure in the shower. The hotel was rundown, disgusting, with mold in the shower, peeling wallpaper, and stained sheets. Most of the staff was incredibly rude. Despite repeated requests, our room was not once cleaned in three days. I saw a cockroach. Truly an unpleasant experience and waste of money.

Our stay at the Columbus, GA Homewood Suites was truly memorable, thanks largely to the incredible staff. While the guest rooms are a bit dated, it does appear the hotel is actively renovating from the ground floor up. The lobby is absolutely beautiful, and the pool and fire pit area are cozy, clean, and very well maintained. The manager’s reception on Wednesday night was especially welcoming—it truly felt like being with family. Due to an unexpected delivery issue, the breakfast offering was fairly sparse, but that small inconvenience was completely overshadowed by the exceptional service. By far, the most outstanding part of our stay was the hotel manager and her entire team. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and genuinely welcomed. Their kindness, professionalism, and warmth made all the difference. Even as we left, one of the cleaning staff came out to the car to wish us safe travels ? Thank you to the entire Homewood Suites team for making our stay so special—we truly felt at home!

2.5/5 Stars – A Disappointing Stay Marred by Neglect This hotel earns a reluctant 3 stars, dragged down by glaring issues in cleanliness and quality control. The digital key failed repeatedly, forcing awkward front-desk trips. Worse, the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke and mold—clear signs the HVAC filters haven’t been changed in ages. Furniture was a mess: stained, worn-out antiques that clash badly with the modern development outside. It’s a bizarre mismatch, like a thrift-store relic dropped into a new-build zone. The problems scream absentee management. No one’s doing spot checks; standards have clearly slipped. It felt more like a tired Best Western than a property anyone takes pride in. Fixes are simple: Managers need to walk rooms daily, unannounced. Franchise owners should drop in quarterly with a clipboard. Replace filters, deep-clean or replace furniture, and train staff to catch issues before guests do. Basic oversight would lift this place from forgettable to functional. As is, I won’t return.

A very nice hotel located a short drive from downtown Columbus. Homewood Suites by Hilton, founded in 1989, is an upscale, all-suite, extended-stay brand under Hilton Worldwide, with more than 530 locations across the United States and several in Georgia. This property is a mid-rise building near a lot of stores and restaurants. It is located on the south side of Whittlesee road and just off SR 80, making it easy to get around the area. Check-in was quick and the lady that checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel shows a little age in spots but was clean and comfortable. Our suite was large and well laid out, though the shared TV positioned between the bedroom and seating area was a bit awkward. The rear entrance door was broken during our visit, which made returning from the parking lot slightly inconvenient (you had to go around to the front door), but overall, the property felt secure and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was nice and the hotel had a nice eating area just behind the entrance area. Overall, this Homewood Suites in Columbus, GA, provided an enjoyable and relaxing stay for us and I would recommend it for fellow travelers visiting the area.
