The Springhill Suites Columbus receives mixed reviews, with significant concerns regarding cleanliness, outdated facilities, and operational issues. Recent reviews highlight problems ranging from leaks and blood stains to mold and insect infestations, while positive feedback focuses on the helpfulness of certain staff members, particularly Justin. Overall, the property requires substantial investment for upgrades.
My father in law booked this hotel for our entire family for us visiting family. And this is the only bad review I have ever left a place. I do not suggest this hotel! The hotel is less than ideal. Our room had an active leak, hot water was non existent, room made you feel gross. The bathroom smelled like someone soaked it in bleach and to top it off the pull out couch looked like it has been there since 1980’s and has seen a thing or two. My brother in law was given a dirty room the first time, then they moved him to a new room that had blood and other “human fluids” on the floor and bed. So they are onto room number three. The staff is great and very nice but that dosnt over run the bad. Don’t stay here!
The front desk staff exceeded our expectations with their exceptional friendliness and helpfulness. Our room was clean and satisfactory, although it didn't quite match the high standards of cleanliness we've experienced at other SpringHill Suites locations. The elevator was a bit unsettling, as it seemed to struggle at times. The breakfast offering was average.
The room was nice. Sleeper sofa was dated but worked. The light over the bathroom sink was dim. It needs to be changed to an LED and a fixture that lights the area better. There was two remotes for the TV. One for turning it on and the second one for getting to the channels. There should only be one remote for the TV. The breakfast variety was best that I have seen in a long time. Choice of biscuits and gravy, waffles, eggs, sausage as well as cereals, yogurt etc.
Check in was a breeze. Shay is very pleasant. I thought I had issue with A/C but it was fixed immediately. This location is walking distance to restaurants and stores. I would recommend staying here.
The only reason they are getting two stars is because of the awesome staff they have. Very professional and represent the brand well. Now let's get down to reason I didn't want to give any stars. This hotel is very outdated. They don't even seem as if they are doing ANYTHING to upgrade or update this hotel. Towels were dingy. The most they could do is offer decent towels. I felt dirty even though I took multiple showers a day there. The little bandaids they are using when fixing things have ran it's course. Highly recommend you DO NOT stay at this location. I tried to upload photos but for some reason I can't. I'll update this review as soon as I figure it out.
I stayed there for my sons army graduation. I got in late, and she told me they would run my card in the morning because she was closing out for the night. I said that was fine then 20 minutes later I had 310 dollars taken out of my account. I asked her aboutnit an she said she didnt do it and had no clue an they would fix it in the morning. Next day I had a 571 dollar transaction ( my husband automatically disputed this transaction) come across my account ( mind you when I checked in they didnt have a room ready for me and had to try and find a room for me and the room I got was semi filthy. Used wash clothes in the shower with pubic hair on it towels just hanging there, food and drinks in the refrigerator) talked to the GM he saidbhe would get it taken care of. Same night a had the front desk lady ask me why I made a complaint against her... an said next time just come to her about the issue. Fast work went to sleep woke up to another 120 dollar transaction taken out of my account by this hotel and they say they dont have record of it coming out at all. Went to the desk and the lady was like inwas told on Monday your dealing with the GM and that they would help you. That evening I had a gal call up to my room demanding I put my card on file because she checked me in and she was going to be blamed for this mess. I told her I wasn't comfortable doing so and I spoke to the gm and he said I didn't need to do that and she was like fine the hotel can eat this cost.... I got to check out and invent down to talk to them about everything and the GM never came out to talk to me about what was going on. Told me I needed to pay 463 and they just took the tax off for my inconvenience. I just looks at them and was like im 100% ok with paying for my stay but im not paying one dollar until that money gets out back into my account. They stated theyre pending they will just drop off and we already ran your card that the gm had saved.... so glad they are able to do this to people and get away with it. Only person there that was super cool was the front desk dude named Drew he was a 10/10, such a blessing. Then a older lady in housekeeping she was a doll. Ultimately stay away from this hotel!!!
Horrible, DO NOT stay here. Unless you like leaking ceilings, blood on walls and floors, black mold, and cockroaches. We were supposed to stay 6 nights. The first night we were on the second floor, the room smelled musty and dusty, (its just a smell, so we were going to just accept it and stay) but we had to be moved to another room because the ceiling started dripping water onto one of our (occupied) beds, early in the morning. The second room we were given had a mildew smell, and my pregnant daughter (who was also staying with me) found black mold in several places. The third room, which actually did not smell bad at all, smelled clean, but had blood stains on the carpet, and furniture and my 8 year old pointed out a huge cockroach flying around the room. At the same time we decide this is NOT ok, another family is being moved because of a very large blood stain on the floor in their room and blood splatter on the walls and smeared on the lamp. At this point we are all terrified to coninue our stay, so I ask for a refund. (The other family did as well) The man at the front desk assured me we would get a full refund immediately. We packed up our bags and left. An hour later (at 1:45am) while we are still trying to find somewhere to stay, i get an email. I am only going to be refunded for 1 night and i will receive it in 3-5 business days. So now we are forced to stay in my rental car for the rest of our stay, because we can't afford to stay anywhere else without receiving the refund first. So in my honest opinion, NOBODY should stay at this place. Spend the extra money and get a decent, clean, and safe place to stay. This was not a cheap place to stay, and yes i read all the reviews, none of these issues were mentioned anywhere at all. Save yourself the time, expense and sanity. Go somewhere else, where you can feel safe, clean and rested.
Justin was absolutely amazing! From the moment I arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was professional, kind, and made me feel so welcome. His attention to detail and outstanding customer service really stood out. Justin is truly an asset to this hotel—I can’t thank him enough for making my stay such a great experience! Definitely going back because of him.
The young lady at the front desk was wonderful. Didn’t catch her name but we checked in at 7:20ish on 7/15/25. Hotel and the rooms were nice a clean with a clean scent. Beds were clean and kept, shower had plenty of pressure, but it was rather difficult to find the right temperature. Either way too hot or ice cold. Also the shower curtain rod in room 112 was broken. Breakfast was 6/10. Typical options (eggs sausage, cereals, bagels, etc. Location was convenient for an overnight stay on the way to the gulf. Parked our truck with bicycles on the back and had no issues. We will probably stay here again next gulf trip. Random: Complimentary bottle water in the lobby was a nice benefit! The body wash provided smelled great but was a little lacking (minor detail but some people may wonder). Possibly the coldest mini fridge ever. AC worked well at night. Have to push hard on the toilet flusher. Pool hours are 9-10pm
Decent hotel. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is cause the parking lot had some pot holes and was uneven in spots. My car sits low, and it shouldn't be a problem for people with enough clearance. The pool area was kind of dirty/ hadn't been swept up. Though the pool was like 80 degrees itself...and the gym was sort of lack luster. The basics, for someone only looking to burn calories. Nothing terrible. The room was nice, spacious, and clean. No loud neighbors or noises to keep you up all night. No unwanted odors or the smell of smoke. Breakfast was decent. It's also nice the hotel is close to shopping and restaurants.
