The TownePlace Suites Columbus receives mixed reviews, largely centered around issues with cleanliness, outdated facilities, and inconsistent service. While some guests appreciate the included breakfast and convenient location, recurring complaints highlight significant maintenance problems, including pests (bed bugs), dirty rooms, and functional deficiencies within the rooms.
Im so glad we used points for this stay. Definitely an older out of date hotel. The rooms were basic and had some chewed up base boards. No biggie just cosmetic. The pool was super cloudy so we didnt swim. Breakfast was crap. No bacon No pancakes No waffles...not even bananas. There was one type of oatmeal. Coffee was good! Only an ice machine on first floor. Service was friendly
Well the main reason we chose this place was because of them having an outside pool, WEEEEEELL.... When we got there you have to walk by the pool and when we did it was so gross and dirty and cloudy looking, like it wasn't cleaned for a week or so.... We were so mad because we stayed for like almost a week and it still wasn't cleaned! But as we were loading up in the morning to leave, it looked like chemicals were FINALLY just added for it to be cleaned. Go figure.... ? But beside that everything was good ??
I was in town for a 3 day work trip and I always stay at Marriott hotels, and this time was no different.check in was smooth, but even before I got in the room I heard this sound coming from the hallway near my room, it sounded like a depressed and broken radiator on its last threads of life. Which continued throughout my stay. When I got into the room I could see the curtains were ripped, which I would overlook if not for the stained sheets and safety hazard. Outlets near the desk were completely coming out of the wall leaving exposed wires. This is not what I've come to expect from Marriott, very disappointed.
Old, outdated, poor serve code and Yes bugs. Upon check in we noticed a very strong mildew smell coming from the back suite ac unit. It was blowing out small black pieces that could be seen on the white covers. The ac in the second bedroom was not working. While sitting on the couch a painting/framed piece of art work fell on my mother. There appeared to be no wiring on the back of the piece to secure it to the wall. I did notify management- Justin- that the picture had fallen and the ac was not working. We filled out paperwork regarding the painting and Maintainence came. Later that night i felt something around my ankles…figured I was being paranoid. The next day I noticed a black spot on the bed. I thought it was more of the stuff that had blown from the AC unit. Much to my dismay it was a bed bug filled with blood. I immediately grabbed a tissue and grabbed the bug. It popped and blood came out. I also took a picture and showed management. Was moved to another room only to be bitten in there as well. Overall the family trip was ruined. Trying to get assistance regarding the issue was a dead end. I was offered point that do not even accumulate to cover even a nights stay any where. Needless to say, won’t be returning and DO NOT recommend. Old, outdated, poor serve code and Yes bugs.
Atmosphere was not what I expected especially for a Mariott. Kitchen was absolutely horrible. I would not want to cook anything or even heat something up. Beds were ok.
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the service I received. I made a reservation two months in advance for my son’s soccer tournament in Columbus. We arrived at the hotel at nearly 11:00 p.m., after driving almost three hours with three children, only to be informed that our reservation had been canceled without any notification, call, or email. This was not just inconvenient—it was completely unacceptable. We were left without accommodations late at night in an unfamiliar city, exhausted and with children. At no point did anyone attempt to contact us or help resolve the situation. There was no apology, no alternative arrangement, and no effort to make it right in the moment. I am disappointed, frustrated, and upset with how this was handled. This experience has caused unnecessary stress and hardship for my family. I expect Marriott to address this situation promptly and provide an appropriate resolution, including compensation for the inconvenience and costs we incurred. Something needs to be done to make this right.
I stayed at this hotel for one night and, unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. Despite submitting a detailed room request well in advance via the Bonvoy app and completing mobile check-in early in the day, I was assigned a handicapped room near the elevator - exactly what I had specifically asked to avoid. The front desk agent who checked me in failed to acknowledge my Titanium Elite status, and the overall service felt indifferent. The response I received prior to arrival also showed a lack of attention to detail, referencing the location of the ice machine even though I had requested a room away from it. The property feels dated and could use some updates. The room had a musty odor, the walls were paper-thin, and the bathtub faucet did not function properly. Overall, a disappointing stay that did not reflect the level of care and recognition usually extended to loyal Bonvoy members.
Really friendly staff. Tykia, at the front desk was very professional and kind. She even made sure my dietary needs were met in my gift bag, since I'm vegan!! The manager, Jennifer was excellent and was extremely welcoming and professional as well.
Lady at front desk said she didn't have my reservation then charged me 60 more than booking.com price. I question her honesty. Breakfast was a joke. No meat. I could of stayed at a much better place for the price. Save the stress I endured and stat elsewhere.
One of the best budget friendly hotels I have visited. Breakfast was fresh and different each day. Rooms were clean and well equipped. I was able to cook meals in the room kitchen.
