This La Quinta Inn & Suites Columbus State University consistently receives overwhelmingly negative reviews, highlighting severe cleanliness issues, significant disrepair, and repeated problems with insect infestations. Guests report encountering roaches, mold, peeling paint, and malfunctioning amenities, alongside issues with reservation fulfillment and unresponsive staff. The property appears to be in a state of severe decline and is strongly discouraged for future stays.
This place is absolutely pitiful. I'm surprised this building is even still in operation. It stinks, it's dirty, it's raggedy, it's slum-ish, it's falling apart, and it is in DESPERATE need of renovations, especially if they are just gonna keep renting rooms. I was doing pushups in my room and the carpet was so damp under my hands, and it stunk! I couldn't wash my hands properly because they didn't have any soap. I hope I didn't get bed bugs sitting on the chair in the corner. I should've got my money back when I found out I had to shoulder tackle the door just to get it open(not even exaggerating). The staff at the front was really nice, but that's about where the positive ends for this place. I would not recommend anyone stay here unless you're absolutely at your most desperate low and need a place to sleep. My room had the ceiling peeling, the tub was rusted and dirty, no ice bucket, no room phone, no coffee maker, microwave didn't spin. The elevator was broke and I don't mind taking stairs at all but the stairwell smelled awful, the carpet was ripped and EXTREMELY dirty, the smoke detector needs a new freaking battery, that's what that beeping is if y'all don't know. And also my room card stopped working... twice! Take some pride in y'all establishment and fix that place up or shut it down. I can clearly see this place is on its last leg. The pictures online are very off-putting and highly misleading. I should've checked out the day I checked in but I was so mentally drained. However, when I saw that roach on the headboard I packed up my stuff, got dressed for work and checked out. I'm mad and feel cheated out of 250 dollars. And apparently they keep your deposit and then act like you never paid one. I'm out of 50 bucks but from the looks of that place they need it more than me.
They may have friendly staff ever since they fired the drunken night lady but the rooms are disgusting! I kept finding cockroaches in the bathroom! So y'all need to bomb and spray the entire hotel!
Nice lady at the front desk but The carpets where absolutely disgusting the place doesn't look anything like the pictures, it has a misty mold smell Also on the last day I saw a roach so that should be all you need to know about what the rooms cleanliness was like AND the bathtub was held together by electrical tape?
Had a reservation, they would not let me check in due to a "military graduation", now they will not refund what I paid through Travelocity to make the reservation.
I which I had a 0 rating! "My recent stay at this establishment was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted by a scene straight out of a horror movie - roaches crawling freely, an overpowering stench of decay, and an overall atmosphere that felt more like a rundown crack den than a place of lodging. The rooms showcased on the website are mere facades, cleverly hiding the squalor and dilapidation that awaited me. The lack of cleanliness was appalling - dust bunnies in every corner, sticky surfaces, and questionable stains on the furniture. It seemed as though sanitation had never crossed the minds of those responsible for maintaining this place. Despite these glaring issues, one shining light in this dismal experience was the staff member Leelee. She was great and very understanding, doing her best to address my concerns and make my stay as comfortable as possible within the constraints of the establishment. In conclusion, I urge anyone reading this review to heed my warning and avoid this establishment at all costs. The experience was nothing short of a disaster, and I would hate for anyone else to fall victim to its deceitful facade. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for accommodations."
We booked this hotel for one night so my husband could have a place to relax before heading back to bootcamp. We didn’t even end up staying overnight—and when I got home, I saw they had charged us for three nights. I’ve called the hotel over three times, left messages, and even gave my number asking for a manager to call me back. Not a single return call. Extremely unprofessional. To make matters worse, the hotel itself was disgusting—cigarette burns in the carpet, tiles falling from the ceiling, and stained mattresses. It was truly a horrible experience from start to finish. It’s incredibly disrespectful to treat a soldier this way, and to not even have the decency to return a call. I’ve now had to file a claim with my bank and get new cards to protect myself from any more unauthorized charges. Avoid this place at all costs. We’ve learned our lesson and will never stay anywhere that even remotely resembles this place again. Beware.
I stayed there on May 22-23 2025, tv didn't work, room smell was horrible, woke to roaches all in my food. I don't recommend this hotel to anybody it is a dump.
This hotel needs to be torn down and turned into something else at this point. It is absolutely God awful. My room A/C didn't even work it was hot as hell in there. My water in the tub wouldn't stop running, and it was stained. The room was not cleaned properly it was just a terrible experience I checked out before way before time.
This place is a disaster! I am so very disappointed in wyndham's block up any action taken considering. This hotel clearly advertises. That they are a wind and property. In fact, they advertise that they are a la quinta hotel, not travelidge. Design that is on the side of the road says, la quinta. The sign on the front of the building says, la quinta. The keycards and everything else in the hotel says, la quinta.. Upon speaking with Wyndham about the a horrid condition of the hotel, they were unable to find this property on this address. In fact, it comes up too br travelodage in their system.. I don't know what's really going on here. But I would advise you to not spend it.A hundred and twenty five dollars a night like I did..
Do not. Just do not. Run down and dirty. Kept my socks on the whole time while I was in the room. Could not get comfortable. Beware, listed elsewhere as “La Quinta by Columbus State University.”
